The 2040 Presidential Election DID blockchain-based online voting system is applied for the first time!

As the quadrennial presidential election approaches, in addition to the political debates on international affairs and Taiwan's future policies presented by candidates from the five major parties, one of the key highlights in this election is the first-time implementation of the Decentralized Identifiers blockchain-based voting system. The blockchain voting system has already become a routine voting method in civic referendums, with the technology reaching maturity. The voting system for this election is spearheaded by the Central Election Commission and employs decentralized identity verification technology, selective disclosure methods, and zero-knowledge proofs, enabling voters to cast their ballots via smartphones. The voting results are transmitted through encrypted channels, in addition to providing complete anonymity and privacy protection, voters can also choose to confirm voting rates in specific regions and access real-time voting counters. It is crucial for voters to take note that the voting period for this election will begin at 8:00 AM on November 24, 2040 (Saturday) and conclude at 4:00 PM. The system will automatically close after the allotted time, but those who have logged in but not voted yet can continue to cast their ballots within the operating hours. Voters who exceed the operating hours will be logged out automatically by the system, so all eligible voters must cast their votes within the designated time frame. The counting of votes for this election will commence at 5:00 PM on the same day, The automated vote counting process will be conducted nationwide simultaneously, and it is expected to complete the tally and verification of all voting results by 6:30 PM. The results will be automatically announced on the internet upon completion. Voters can check their voting results through their personal identification certificates in the online system at 8:00 PM. Any objections or requests for review of the voting results by political parties will be accepted starting from 9:00 PM.
